The Philosophy Library is part of the Unitobler Library

The Philosophy Library is open to the public; its services and collections are intended to meet students' and faculty's needs.

Infrastructure

  • 25 long-term study spaces which can be borrowed per semester; 10 of them are equiped with mobile file cabinets.

    Reservations for study spaces and mobile file cabinets can be made using this form.

  • 13 lockers to borrow separately or in combination with a study space
  • 3 day-to-day study spaces for free use

Library introductions

Introductory tutorials to the library are offered as part of courses as well as on request.

Bibliothek Philosophie

The holdings of the Philosophy Library correspond to the main research areas of the Institute of Philosophy. You can search for documents from the collection via swisscovery Universität and PH Bern.

Around 30,000 books are organised by subject group/call number on two platforms. There are also around 30 current journals in the institute hallway.

The Philosophy Library has collections in the following fields:

  • specialized literature on all subfields of philosophy
  • large collection of primary and secondary literature on classical philosophers from ancient times to the current day
  • reference works
