Late Soviet youngsters all knew what kaif was, even if they struggled to define it even for themselves. Kaif was pleasure, peace, sex, highs, love and community. Kaif guided their lives, which they defined as apolitical. But really there was quite a bit off dissidence in kaif - and quite a bit of Sovietness.
