Digitization of printed publications
Since 2002, the University Library Bern digitizes printed publications and publishes them on the platforms listed below. Lecturers and researchers at the University of Bern can make suggestions for the digitization of works for these platforms.
e-rara: Monographs and maps (until approx. year of publication 1900)
The Bern University Library has been digitising books, individual prints and maps from the 16th to 19th centuries since 2008. They are available online in high resolution at e-rara.ch.
e-periodica: Swiss journals and series
Since 2010, the University Library Bern digitizes printed journals of scientific societies, yearbooks, magazines as well as source material from the Canton of Bern and makes these digitizations freely accessible on e-periodica.
e-newspaperarchives
Currently, the University Library Bern digitizes three million newspaper pages that have appeared in print between 1692 and 2000 in the cities of Bern, Biel, Thun and the Bernese Jura.
