TEI-Publisher service
The TEI Publisher enables digital edition projects to easily present their edition data on the web.
How does the TEI-Publisher work?
Modules and templates
The TEI-Publisher is a publication environment for digital editions.
After importing TEI XML data, the TEI-Publisher can be used to determine how the individual TEI elements are to be displayed. Templates provided can be used for this and adapted if required – e.g. for critical editions.
In addition, the text to be displayed can be embedded in an application context using the TEI-Publisher app and supplemented with navigation, page numbering, search and facsimile display. The TEI-Publisher app provides the necessary building blocks for designing the website of a digital edition. Templates are also available for this, which can be adapted as required.
TEI-Publisher service
Offer of the University Library
The TEI-Publisher service provides researchers at the University of Bern with a TEI Publisher instance with customizable templates for displaying the TEI elements and for designing the layout of the edition website in the TEI-Publisher app. The TEI-Publisher service can be combined with the IIIF service for embedding image material, for example.
Together with the Data Science Lab, we are available for advice and support before and during the use of the TEI-Publisher service.

The service is still under construction. A TEI-Publisher instance is currently being set up by the Digital Humanities & the Data Science Lab of the University of Bern for an initial research project at the University of Bern. The hosting of the TEI-Publisher will then be taken over by the University Library. The two support units will also work together for other research projects that wish to use the TEI-Publisher service.
